Incorporated on June 11, 1953, the Town of Indian River Shores is identified with its pristine beaches and controlled growth. We are one of five incorporated municipalities in Indian River County, located on the East Coast of Central Florida. The Town’s 7 square miles lie along State Road A-1-A between the Indian River Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean, adjacent and north of the City of Vero Beach.
The Town of Indian River Shores consists primarily of low-density, gated residential communities. The annual estimate of the Town’s population as of April 2014 is 3,962 for state revenue sharing purposes (published in January each following year). According to the 2010 Census, we have 3,901 residents enjoying our semi-tropical climate, with that figure nearly doubling during the peak season, which is roughly from October until Easter.
This unique community provides law enforcement, fire protection and emergency medical services through its well-regarded Public Safety Department, which features triple-certified officers. A Postal Center and Community Center are other services which our residents and neighbors enjoy.
Indian River Shores is a friendly community, with many residents donating their talents and time to serve on the Town’s Boards and Committees or to serve as a volunteer throughout Indian River County.
